A client-billable mileage expense report generator.
As part of my work, I often travel for projects. Part of the agreement with my clients is to pass on mileage expense reimbursement to them according to the current IRS rate, which at the time of writing is $0.67 per mile. In the past, I calculated this manually and compiled a report to attach to my invoices—a process that could take up to 10 minutes.
To streamline this, I developed an app that can do in 30 seconds what used to take significantly longer. This small but impactful innovation improves the efficiency of my business operations. The app is password-protected, defaults to my office address for ease of use, and includes an export-to-PDF feature. This allows me to generate a professional report that I can attach to my invoice email for clients.
Using Replit for both build and deployment for the first time, I was impressed by how quickly the project was completed. The app is a simple example of how incremental innovation can enhance everyday workflows and free up time for more meaningful work.
